This is a fairly common and usually totally harmless.
Rest assured that htis is not your fault and you did not cause this to happend.
In 99% of cases it is nothing sinister and will not mean that your baby is developmentally delayed or will not go on to live a great life!
It's a medical term for misshapen, flat or uneven head shape.
It is estimated that up to 47% of babies will develop plagiocephaly.
It is in most cases there is no developmental delay associated with plagiocephaly.
There is research that shows helmets make no difference. In my 15+ years of treating thousands of babies I have never felt the need to recommend or use helmets in treating plagiocephaly.
It can be hard to know if your baby has a flat head. Often it is not until the 6 week check up that your GP or Midwife flags it with you.
The easiest way to tell is by looking at your babies head form the top. A angle you probably don't look at too often!
